My Prized Perennial

Earth Day...... The mere utterance of the words makes a Hedge Witch like me long to dig her weathered hands in the dirt.  Although I firmly believe in Every Day being treated as Earth Day, I would never pass up an opportunity to Plant with Purpose.  Sadly, the weather was not cooperative yesterday for actual planting; however, I was able to delight in the yearly tradition of picking My Prized Perennial.  As I slowly strolled through the local Farmer's Market for the perfect fit, the tiny sparkling of morning dew on a Dwarf Lady's Mantle caught my eye.  Ohhh... the admiration.

It suddenly occurred to me that while I often work with dried herbs and plants during Spellcraft, Lady's Mantle has a timeless magick all it's own.  Their fuzzy leaves have been said to allow for the morning dew to be collected so that the woodland fairies can take a sip, helping them stay young and vibrant forever.  In turn, if one were to collect the dew in a glass vial, they could then use it to apply to their face and around their eyes, helping balance their complexion and securing their youth.  Hmmm.  I clearly don't need my crystal ball to see that a new addition will soon be added to my morning routine.  Perhaps, I will even be rewarded by those wise little fairies for planting such a gem....and will finally get my gate keys back.

A Little Spice

Wednesday, already?  Dear Friends, where did the Time go?

I can remember, as a child, feeling that the day lasted Forever.  The sun on my face, the wind in my hair, new possibilities for Excitement always around the next corner.  As we have gotten older, the sense of Adventure has been fleeting.  At this point in our lives, we have had many experiences, and Excitement tends to be an emotion of the past.  Alas, in my ventures, I have found a Spell.  It is a spell to reignite the adventuresome Spirit that lies dormant in us all (what do we have to lose?!).  Since the Waning Moon is slowly coming to a close, I thought it was the perfect time to share such a Spell, as the Waxing Moon is just around the corner.  Although a red or orange candle can be used, I prefer Red, as it is the symbol of Passion.  Cinnamon oil or powdered cinnamon will also be used, as Cinnamon can help amplify the Intent of all Spells.  After annointing your candle with the oil, or sprinking cinnamon on a charcoal disk, visualize your Intent on Positive Adventures.  If you thus feel inclined, it may also be helpful to cut out pictures of specific activities that you would like to pursue, (although, be careful of National Geographic Magazine.. lol.). Once you have settled yourself and thought through your Intention, repeat the following:

Life is good
All and well
But now and then
I find it dull

I want some Fire
An added spark
A flash of light
To light the dark

May adventure come
In a positive way
So I might laugh
Have fun and play

Now, Buckle your Seatbelts!  If you have performed this Spell with Zest and Vigor, and Belief in your Intention, Adventure will be yours for the taking.....  just remember to be Open and Spontaneous..... One is Never too old for a Little Spice....  Blessed Be.

Introduction of Wyvern Aegis

Very excited to have finished the packaging of my Wyvern Aegis (Dragon Protection) Floorwash. Each bottle has not only been infused with the Protective Powers of carefully chosen herbs and essential oils, but it has also been infused with a Black Onyx gemstone that has been charged overnight by the light of the Full Moon..... Please check out my Facebook page (under Olde Thyme Magick) for pricing and variations.  Happy Cleaning.....

The Power of the Dragon

Just as there is an energy link to the Moon Phases for specific magickal purposes, there is also an energy link to individual Days of the Week.  Saturday has long been hailed as The Spellcasting Day for Protection and Banishment of Negativity, and that, mixed with the Waning Moon, creates the perfect time to infuse your home with it's Power.  Dragons have always played a part in Paganism as the symbol of strength, power and protection, so cleaning, with the intention of protection or banishment, wouldn't be complete without an aspect of the Dragon itself.  Magickal floorwashes are the perfect way to set your Intention (and make the task a little more fun, of course).  So, if you are in the mood for a little homemade magick, this is what you will need:

-1 tbsp. Angelica
-1 tbsp. Agrimony
-1 tbsp. Peppermint or 3 drops Peppermint Essential Oil
-1 small chunk Dragon's Blood Resin or 3 drops Dragon's Blood Oil
Directions:  Make a strong infusion of the above ingredients and let it boil for 3 minutes.  After straining the herbs, add the infusion to a bucket of water mixed with 1/2 c. white or rice vinegar and 3 drops dishwashing liquid.  As you wash the floor, moving counterclockwise, repeat this incantation, "With the Power of the Dragon, I Protect This Home" while envisioning your home being protected and rid of all negativity.  (*please note to never use vinegar on marble, as it may be damaged, and always use caution with clothing when using Dragon's Blood resin for fear of staining)

Although there are Many More ways to increase the Power of this mixture, That My Friends, will have to wait until another time............ (wink.)  Blessed Be.

The Dawning of a New Day

There is a perfect moment, during each morning, where I am reminded that the Day is full of Opportunities to shift my reality. I shuffle outside and allow the Sun on my face, slowly raising my arms in the air (stretching East, of course, never West). I clear my mind and allow myself to be Present in the Moment. The birds are busy chattering, enjoying the newfound Spring, and the faint whisper of the wind in the trees envelopes me in Nature......

Many Welcomes

Greetings! My name is Hagethena Mugwort, and I thank you for stopping in. Upon reviewing many a blog, I realized that there was a lack in Day to Day Witchery. I invite you to become my household friend as I work through my daily chores, monthly rituals and magickal ramblings. There really is no place like home…….

A Place to Hang My Hat

It is a but a hat
Some would say
That sits atop my head.

Yet, it keeps my secrets
From the dawn of day
Until I go to bed

How lovely, then
That I may share
These secrets now with you

Double, Double
Toil and Trouble
Each day our passion Renew
